This elegant cobalt blue goblet was used during special celebrations at Santillane. The Greek Revival historic brick home is in Fincastle on Housman Street. It sits on a tract of land originally owned by Colonial George Hancock, who was a member of the United States Congress from 1793-1797. His daughter, Judith, married General William Clark in 1808 after he returned from the famous Lewis and Clark Expedition. The goblet is not dated but came from the estate of Catherine Stoner Peaslee (1926-2022), who lived in Santillane. It was donated to the Botetourt Museum of History and Culture in 2024 by her nephew, George E. Holt III. Today it is displayed in the lighted cabinet downstairs in the parlor.
