The Botetourt Sports Complex (BSC) will once again kick off its seasonal schedule with the West Virginia Wesleyan College Fast-Pitch Tournament in combination Moyer Fields in Salem.

The first pitch is this Friday, March 10 and it concludes Sunday afternoon, March 12.

Twenty-six sporting events will run from March 11 through October 15 at the Botetourt Sports Complex. This year’s events include Botetourt’s local youth recreational and high school teams plus numerous regional and national championship events for women’s fast-pitch and adult slow-pitch softball.

The Sports Complex has welcomed over 200,000 visitors to Botetourt County since opening in June 2007, according to an announcement by Botetourt County. This year, it is anticipated 20,000 visitors representing more than 15 different states will travel to the Botetourt Sports Complex. Event criteria include its impact on the economy and opportunities for local residents to participate and utilize the facility.

“It’s hard to believe we are celebrating our 10th anniversary this year. Our local kids get to play at a quality facility they are proud of and people from all over the country get to visit beautiful Botetourt County,” said Jim Farmer, Director of Parks and Recreation. “Sports-related tourism continues to be big business nationwide, and we are proud to attract such quality events to Botetourt County.”

March 25-26, the complex will host the Got Game Kick-Off Classic Youth Fast-Pitch Tournament, and March 31-April 1, Lord Botetourt and James River High Schools will be part of the annual Botetourt Bash High School Softball Tournament.

Botetourt County youth leagues will open their seasons at the Sports Complex April 28-29, and May 17-19 the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Fast-Pitch Softball World Series will be back.

The ISF Senior World Cup for 70 and older players will be held June 21-22, and two USA Eastern Nationals will be held in August and September. August 2-6 BSC will help host the USA Softball 10U and 12U Class A and 16U and 18U Class B Fast-Pitch Eastern Nationals.

September 1-4, BSC will help host the USA Men’s Class D&E Eastern Slow-Pitch Championship.
