The Botetourt County 4-H Horse and Pony Club Hippology and Horse Judging team excelled in a recent statewide competition. The Equismartz State Contest was held at the Meadow Event Park in Doswell March 24-26. The contest began with individual speech/presentation contest, followed by eight hours of Hippology and judging tests. The Botetourt team placed third in Hippology over 17 teams. There were 14 Horse Judging teams; Botetourt placed fourth. Coaches are Dr. Detiz, Cindy Bandy, and Rachel Witt.
