The Botetourt County 4-H Shooting Education and Hunting, Wildlife and Outdoor Skills Club has a limited number of openings for new members in three shooting disciplines and in hunting skills.
Limited openings are available in archery, pistol and rifle. The club teaches Olympic-style target shooting in these disciplines along with 3D archery and air pistol/rifle and smallbore silhouette.
The hunting skills discipline covers topics related to wildlife conservation, hunting, hunter safety, outdoor activities, survival skills, wildlife identification, science-based habitat work, proper firearms and archery use for hunting, etc.
The club’s focus is on youth development by working with 4-H’ers in these disciplines.
Youth 9-19 are eligible to participate in 4-H shooting sports.
The 4-H instructors are certified by the Virginia 4-H Shooting Education Council in the individual shooting and hunting disciplines.
Individual disciplines generally meet twice monthly. Archery meets on Sunday afternoons, and pistol and rifle meet Thursday evenings.
