The Virginia High School League state swim meets will be held this week at various locations. The Group 1A/2A meet is scheduled for the Christiansburg Aquatic Center today, and the Group 3A meet will be held on Saturday in Richmond.
James River will have five swimmers in the 1A/2A meet after the boys placed 13th and the girls placed 15th at the region meet last week at Virginia High in Bristol. Ana Conrad finished 7th in the 200 IM, Brycen Ford finished 4th in the 100 Fly, and Luke Martin finished 7th in the 100 Free. They will each advance to the state meet in those individual events.
The boys 200 free relay placed 8th and will also compete at the state meet. The team consists of Brycen Ford, Luke Martin, Matt Martin and Thomas Laughridge, with Caleb Meador as an alternate.
Lord Botetourt’s girls finished ninth in the Region 3A West meet in Christiansburg last week, and the boys did not score. The Western Albemarle girls and Hidden Valley boys won the meet.
Olivia Bray won the 100 butterfly regional championship with a time of 55.46 and will advance to the state meet.
