The Virginia High School League announced the All-State athletic teams in the past week and Botetourt County schools were well represented. Lord Botetourt had five athletes selected and James River had four.
The only first team selection from the county was Sara Bane, a senior from LB who was named to the All-Group 3A soccer team. Her sister, Hannah Bane, was named to the second team, as was LB’s Hallie Catron. Both are also seniors.
In baseball, senior Ty Maust of LB was named to the second team All-Group 3A at shortstop and he was also selected to play in the Virginia High School Coaches Association all-star game. Junior Hannah Mundy was named second team All-State in softball in the outfield.
For James River, Olivia Simmons and Cameron Hildebrand were both named to the All-Group 2A team in softball. Simmons is a senior pitcher and Hildebrand, an outfielder, is just a sophomore.
River junior Zach Hodges was named second team All-Group 2A as a defender in boys soccer. In girls soccer, junior Brooklyn Ford was named to the second team at midfield.
