The Botetourt County Sheriff’s Office Senior Focus Outreach Program has announced its next “Senior Social” event. The event is focused on bringing seniors and law enforcement together to provide a platform to showcase the many services available to Botetourt County’s 50+ community.

This event will be held on Friday, November 22, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Fincastle Baptist Church, 7330 Roanoke Road, Fincastle. A free buffet style lunch will be served.  Sheriff Matthew Ward will present an overview of preventative measures that will help seniors from becoming victims of crime. Sheriff Ward will be followed by guest speaker Donna Abbott, the Market Growth Manager within the Medicare and Retirement Division of United Healthcare.

Seniors will be able to visit with many of the public and private services available. Services such as daily well-being checks, general health, and financial wellbeing will be on site. Governmental services will be on hand to answer questions and help seniors navigate their future needs. The event and all services are provided free of charge to the senior community.

“We are committed to working closely with our senior community through the Senior Focus Outreach Program,” said Sheriff Ward. “Our Senior Social event not only allows us to engage directly with seniors, but also gives them the chance to connect with one another and discover resources available to them. It’s an important opportunity for us to share vital information that helps prevent them from becoming victims of crime.”

Sheriff Ward invites the senior community to join him at the Senior Social event Friday, November 22, at Fincastle Baptist Church at 11:30 a.m. For more information on the event, contact Andrea Mundy, Community Outreach Coordinator, at 540-928-2233.
