Sheriff’s Office holds Senior Social in Fincastle

The Botetourt County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) held another Senior Social event last Friday at Fincastle Baptist Church. The quarterly event provides resources to local seniors through BCSO’s Senior Focus Outreach Program.

Organizations joining BCSO last Friday included Davis H. Elliott, Botetourt County Parks and Recreation, Good Samaritan, Local Office on Aging, Carilion Clinic, Cora Physical Therapy, Shenandoah Podiatry, innovAge, Botetourt County Libraries, Roanoke Area Substance Abuse Coalition (RAYSAC), All Stars Realty, FitBody Forever, The Glebe, Rehab Physical Therapy, Gentle Shepherd Family Caregiver Resources, Caring Transitions, Better Days to Come VA, Virginia Navigator, the Office of Congressman Ben Cline, United Healthcare, United States Department of Veterans Affairs, and Bank of Botetourt.

Seniors were be able to visit with public and private services available at the event. The event and all services were provided free of charge to the senior community. Lunch was provided by the Mill Creek Baptist Alaska Missionary Team.

Sheriff Ward spoke to seniors about the importance of avoiding scams. Donna Abbott of United Healthcare spoke to residents about transportation services, programs for members, and utilities available. Josh Walton of Valley Medicare Solutions then spoke to guests about the services the company provides seniors of Botetourt.
