The Lord Botetourt and James River swim teams competed in the Southwest Invitational at the Christiansburg Aquatic Center last Saturday. The annual event is the traditional season opening “big meet” for high school teams.
LB’s Julia Misicko took a fifth place in the 100 Butterfly event with a time of 1:03.51 and a seventh in the 200 Free at 2:09.22. Misicko also swam on the eighth place Medley Relay team with Annalise Buyalos, Anna Harris and Sarah Frederickson. Buyalos was 17th in the 100 Free and also 17th in the 100 Backstroke while Harris was 18th in the 100 Breast.
For James River, Joel Barber placed 11th in the 100 Free, Riley Persinger was 13th in the 100 Back and Austin Myers finished 14th in the 100 Backstroke.
Both teams are back in the water Thursday of this week. The Knights will host Glenvar, Carroll County, Giles and Northside at the Botetourt YMCA at 7 p.m. Lord Botetourt is at the Bedford Y to swim against Salem and host Jefferson Forest.
