The 18th century beams that supported the pine floors in the Breckinridge Law Office and former Botetourt County Historical Society Museum have been given a new life. Fincastle woodturner Willie Simmons was given the oak and cedar logs by Botetourt County, which owns the property. Presently, the building is in the process of being moved to make room for a new and larger courthouse. The Botetourt County Museum of History and Culture has six of Willie’s handmade vases in the Bookstore for sale. There is a glass test tube in the center to hold water or to support a dried arrangement. The imperfections and beautiful grain along with their historical value make them a special gift this time of year. All proceeds from the Museum help support the mission of preserving the history of Botetourt County.
