The James River wrestlers competed in the LCA Invitational at Liberty Christian Academy in Lynchburg last weekend and finished eighth among 22 schools.

The Knights were one of the smaller schools in the field. Washington High was the team winner followed by Central of Wise, Hanover, William Byrd, Staunton River, Salem and host Liberty Christian in seventh. The Knights had 127 points with two tournament champions and a runner-up.

Xaiden Wynn won the 113-pound championship with a 59-second pin over Riley Keen of LCA in the final. Xaiden pinned his way through the bracket and has lost just once this season.

At 132, Brayden Forbes scored a 4-2 decision over Tanner Atkinson of Dan River to win that championship. Brayden has also lost just once.

Nathan Stewart made it to the championship match at 144 before losing to Elliott Crews of LCA in the final. Nathan had two pins and a win by decision to make the championship. River also got points from Silas Whitson at 106, who finished sixth.

The Knights are scheduled to wrestle at Floyd County tonight but the weather may impact that event.
