Tim T. Snyder announced on Monday that he is a candidate for the Republican Party nomination for the Board of Supervisors member for the Amsterdam District in Botetourt County.

Snyder is a long-time resident of Botetourt County, growing up on his family’s farm in the Trinity section of Botetourt County. He has lived in the Amsterdam District for 27 years and currently serves on the County Planning Commission as the Amsterdam District representative. Prior to his service on the Planning Commission, Snyder served for 10 years as the Amsterdam District representative on the Botetourt County Parks and Recreation Commission. He has served as president of the Greenfield Booster Club, and has coached Recreation League football, baseball and softball teams. Snyder also served as assistant scoutmaster for Boy Scouts of America Troop 333 in Fincastle, and was awarded the rank of Eagle Scout in 1986.

Snyder graduated from Lord Botetourt High School and attended National Business College and Virginia Western Community College before graduating from the Roanoke College Management Institute. He is currently Director of Information Technology at Virginia Lutheran Home, Inc. and is president and owner of GSS Computer Technology, providing computer equipment and technology services to businesses throughout the greater Roanoke region. Snyder has also served as a curriculum advisor for the Roanoke Regional Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Roanoke Valley program.

“I look forward to meeting with as many voters and residents of the Amsterdam District as possible to hear their interests and concerns about Botetourt County governance, and to share my thoughts and priorities for service on the Board of Supervisors,” Snyder said. “I encourage Amsterdam District residents to contact me at timsnyderboco@gmail.com.”

The Republican Primary to select the party’s supervisor candidate for the Amsterdam District of Botetourt County will be held on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, with in-person voting taking place at Greenfield Elementary School and Lord Botetourt High School. Early voting begins on Friday, May 2, 2025, and takes place at the Voter Registrar’s Office in Fincastle through 5 p.m., Saturday, June 14, 2025.
