Betsy Keith McMurry, 97, of Daleville, died on February 17, 2025.
Betsy was born in Roanoke to Leslie Clinton and Anne Brady Keith. She graduated from Fincastle High School, Averett College in Danville, and the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. After her marriage to Charles Reid McMurry in 1948, she lived in Nashville, Tennessee for two years before returning to Botetourt County where she lived for the rest of her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband; sister, Kitty Horsley; son, Reid McMurry; son-in-law, Larry Smith; and grandson-in-law, Darin Engle.
Survivors include her children, Leslianne Smith, Keith McMurry, Chris McMurry (Dana), and Nan McMurry (Kevin Kelly); sister, Peggy Barnett; grandchildren, Marietta Engle, Dana Burgan (Nick), Cara McMurry (Ben), and Krista McMurry; great-grandchildren, Charlie and Eleanor Burgan, and Emeline Engle, as well as nieces, nephews, and their children.
A graveside service will be held at Sherwood Memorial Park at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 5, 2025.
Betsy’s family extend their sincere thanks to the Botetourt Rescue Squad, the staff and administration at Lewis Gale Hospital and Carrington Place, and caregivers at Care Advantage for the compassionate and dedicated care they provided to Betsy.
