LB’s Duncan takes third in Class 3 3200-meter race

Lord Botetourt’s Jillian Harris placed 11th overall in the Class 3 state championship 55m hurdles at Liberty University.

Lord Botetourt’s Ethan Thorne anchors the Cavaliers’ 4×800 team on day 1 of the Class 3 state championship meet. The team would place 13th with a time of 8:33.64. Thorne would also place 10th individually in the 1600m event (4:29.37).

The Grafton High boys and Heritage girls won Virginia High School League Class 3 state indoor track championships last week at Liberty University in Lynchburg. The Lord Botetourt boys took 17^th in the meet.

Botetourt’s best finish was a third place in the 3200 meters by Eric Duncan, who finished in 9:27.91. Triston Graves was fifth in the 55-meter hurdles in 7.85 and teammate Caleb Miller was right behind in sixth at 7.88.

Ethan Thorne took a 10^th place in the 1600-meter run. In the relays, Botetourt’s boys were 13^th in both the 4×200 and 4×800.

The LB girls did not score. Jillian Harris was 11^th in the 55-meter preliminaries but did not qualify for the finals.
