The new James River girls tennis team will be looking for their first win Thursday when they travel to Hillsville for a Three Rivers District match with Carroll County.
The girls played Floyd County and Alleghany in the past week and lost both by scores of 9-0.
“The score says it was bad but both schools had to work for the win,” said River coach Brian White. “We actually have a good team for a first year and that nobody has played. The first year is always the unknown. There’s a lot to overcome.”
