The 2025 Botetourt County 4-H Presentation Contest was held Friday evening at Central Academy Middle School (CAMS), drawing the largest number of participants since the event’s inception in 2022.

Seventy-five students participated this year, selected from among 110 invited students across all seven of the county’s elementary schools. The contest featured eight competition rooms – three for dramatic reading and five for how-to presentations.

Top-performing students have been invited to advance to the 4-H Area Presentation Contest, scheduled for Saturday, May 3, in Floyd County.

In the dramatic reading division, the top participant from each room advanced to the finals. The winners were:

  • 1st Place: Emma Burns, Greenfield Elementary
  • 2nd Place: Maggie Tolley, Buchanan Elementary
  • 3rd Place: Ava Greer, Troutville Elementary

Two members of the Botetourt County 4-H Horse and Pony Club also took part, with Ellie Rushing of Breckinridge Elementary being selected to present at the Area Contest.

Organizers extend a special thanks to all participants, families, judges, and volunteers, as well as the staff of CAMS for hosting the event. The Botetourt 4-H team looks forward to an even bigger event next year.
