Lord Botetourt High School graduate Zach Horton has signed a free agent contract with the Detroit Lions of the National Football League. Zach is a tight end who played for James Madison University, earning All-Sun Belt Conference honors, before transferring to the University of Indiana for the 2024 season. Zach caught 21 passes for 189 yards and four touchdowns for the Hoosiers last fall. He’ll report to the Lions this week and will participate in a mini-camp next week. He talked to LB football coach Jamie Harless after signing and Harless reports, “Zach said he’s really looking forward to the opportunity and challenge.”
