The Botetourt Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) celebrated their 60th anniversary at the Historic Wilson Warehouse on Saturday, May 11. Botetourt Chapter Regent Betty Holt welcomed the members to the celebration of their anniversary.
With the dedication and involvement in their community, members were able to hear about their years of service and honoring charter members. They also got to hear from Steve Davis involving the history of the Wilson Warehouse. Davis added, “The Wilson Warehouse is one of Buchanan’s best-known historical landmarks. It is a pleasure to have this event here today.”
Member Beth Rolston Pappas commented, “We have an amazing group of women and gentlemen here at the DAR, it’s very important to us to represent the history and revolution.”
The Botetourt Chapter of the DAR was begun in 1965 by 18 ladies in Eagle Rock. Since 1965, the DAR has made many historical milestones. There were posters surrounding the room in which the event was held, celebrating the milestones, activities, and projects throughout the years.
During the event, they discussed the years of service, honoring charter members, the Botetourt Museum of History and Culture, and the Allen-Carper Patriot Cemetery.
Closing remarks were by the Delegate Terry Austin. In his remarks, he recognized Chapter Regent Betty Holt for her service.
