The James River soccer boys are looking to snap a six-game losing streak tonight when they play Patrick County in a Three Rivers District match in Stuart. The Cougars are 1-14 on the season.
River is 2-10 but playing much better soccer of late. The Knights battled a strong Auburn team last Friday in Springwood before falling 3-1.
“We played our best soccer so far this season,” said coach Jared Whiting. “We out-played them, out-shot them, beat them on time of possession but didn’t out-score them. We played great short of finishing and that is a must to win games. Short of seeing the final score, it was a great game to watch.”
Wyatt Dewhirst, a freshman, scored River’s goal.
The Knights will host Radford Friday. River was scheduled to play at Radford on Monday of this week, but that game was rained out and will be made up on May 22.
