Rails Through Iron Country: The Story of the C&O Railroad Craig Valley Branch

Learn about the historic railroad line that hauled iron ore in the Craig Valley during the 19th century. Presented by researchers and authors Chuck McIntyre and Dave Ostrander of the C&O Historical Society.

Explore Big Spring Park as you learn about the role of pollinators in nature. Led by Tim Miller of Mountain Castles Soil & Water. Best for ages 5-17. Great for homeschool curriculum enrichment.

 

1757: The Botetourt Frontier and the Capture of Hannah Dennis

Tue, Aug 26, 4pm, Fincastle In 1757, Shawnee warriors attacked settler families near present-day Buchanan, taking Hannah Dennis and others captive. Learn about Hannah’s capture and daring escape from local historian Ed McCoy.
