Harry Farrington Brand passed away on August 24, 2025 in Montvale, at the age of 68 after fighting Early Onset Alzheimer’s for 4-1/2 years.

Born on June 1, 1957 in Staunton, Va., Harry moved to Roanoke with his family when he was 5. He graduated from Cave Spring High School followed by earning a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science from Virginia Tech. He later built a business as a painting contractor, demonstrating skill and dedication in his profession.

Beyond his work, Harry had a deep appreciation for the outdoors, travel, and history. Harry enjoyed spending time in nature, hunting and fishing. His passion for history and genealogy reflected his interest in understanding the past and its impact on the present.

Harry is survived by his wife, Roblyn Gardner Brand; sister, Kim White (Chuck); brothers, William Brand (Lisa), James Brand (Linda), and David Brand (Bette); sons, JR Lystash (Rebeccah) and Tyler Lystash (Sarah Osterman); grandchildren, Leah, Robbie, Simon and Isabelle Lystash. Harry was predeceased by his parents, William and Charlotte Griffin Brand.

Harry never met a stranger and valued his friends highly. May the memory of him bring comfort to all who knew him.

The family would like to express gratitude for the wonderful care given to him by WoodHaven Nursing Home and Gentiva Hospice.

Visitation will be at Rader Funeral Home in Daleville on September 5, 2025 during the hours of 6-8 p.m. The family plans a private service at a later date. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor his memory may make donations to a charity of their choice.
