Two-day yard sale at Mill Creek Baptist

The Dominican Republic Mission Team at Mill Creek Baptist Church will hold its annual yard sale in the fellowship hall Friday, Oct. 3, 5-8 p.m. (supper available) and Saturday, Oct. 4, 8 a.m.-1 p.m. (breakfast and lunch available).

Proceeds from the yard sale support the mission of providing a pre-school for children who would otherwise not have an option for education.

 

Buchanan Food Pantry will have booth at Mountain Magic

The Buchanan Food Pantry volunteers will have a booth at Mountain Magic on Saturday, Oct. 4, where they will give out information about the pantry and collect non-perishable foods. Visitors are encouraged to stop by and drop off something to share with those folks who need help.

 

Blessing of the Animals at Church of the Transfiguration

Whether your furry companion is a dog, cat, horse, hamster, or even a favorite stuffed animal, you’re invited to Blessing of the Animals on Saturday, Oct. 4, celebrating the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi. Organizers will be gathering at 10 a.m. at the picnic shelter just to the left of the parking lot at the Church of the Transfiguration at 7624 Roanoke Road in Fincastle. Animals should be under control to ensure everyone goes home happy. Everyone is welcome.

 

Valley View Baptist Homecoming

Valley View Baptist Church’s Homecoming is Oct. 5. All are invited to the worship service at 11 a.m. and the meal after the service.

 

Springwood Baptist Church BBQ dinner

Springwood Baptist Church is hosting its annual pork BBQ dinner on Saturday, Oct.25, from 4-6 p.m. at the church, 88 Copps Hill Road, Buchanan.

Each dinner costs $12.00 and includes: two pork barbecue sandwiches (Aaron’s Smokehouse special sauce), coleslaw, baked beans and a drink. Desserts will be available for an additional charge. All proceeds will go toward church repairs.

This will be a takeout-only event held in the church fellowship hall. No tickets will be sold in advance, and no reservations are required. Aaron’s Smokehouse dinners will be served on a first-come, first-served basis while supply lasts.

 

Cloverdale Thrift Store half-price sale

Cloverdale Church of the Brethren’s Thrift Store is having a half-off sale on all adult and children’s clothes and shoes. Fall clothes will arrive on the first Saturday in October. Gently used donations are welcome. The store is open Saturdays, 9 to 12.
