Those in charge of the meal portion of the “Poker Run & Jeep Crusade” fundraiser for Steve Thrasher of Springwood Oct. 18 are encouraging folks to buy their tickets now. Pre-sold tickets allow the holders to bypass the line, grab their meals and eat at the Buchanan Moose Lodge or take them to go.

Please pre-order by calling Melissa Hutchens, 540-520-1752, or Mary Taylor, 540-597-3137, as soon as possible.

The chicken dinners will be available at the Buchanan Moose Lodge (534 3rd Street, Buchanan) beginning at 12 p.m. Dinner consists of one-half of a chicken, baked beans, coleslaw, roll, soda or water, and dessert (brownies or cookies.) Meals are included for riders. Public meal price is $15 each.

Registration for both Jeeps and motorcycles in the “Poker Run & Jeep Crusade” will be at the Salem Moose Lodge, 1409 E. Main Street, from 9-10:30 a.m.; cost is $25 singles/$35 couple.

The Poker Run is by Purgatory Mountain Chapter, ABATE of Virginia Inc., rain or shine.

Riders will leave the Buchanan Moose around 3-3:30 p.m. and head to the Bedford Moose Lodge (2986 W. Lynchburg-Salem Turnpike, Bedford.)

Blue Connection will be playing at Bedford Moose from 4-7 p.m., followed by Bluegrass Brothers from 7-10 p.m., with the possibility of both bands playing together from 10-11 p.m. Fee is covered for riders; public entrance is $10 per person.

All proceeds from the day’s events will go to benefit Steve Thrasher to help with expenses during his ongoing battle with cancer.
