Mt. Bethel Ice Cream Social Saturday
Mt. Bethel Church of the Brethren is having a Community Ice Cream Social this Saturday, Oct. 11, from 4-7 p.m., 10630 Narrow Passage Road, Eagle Rock. All are welcome to attend for ice cream and games.
Buchanan Food Pantry open Oct. 11
The Buchanan Presbyterian Church Food Pantry will be open Saturday, Oct. 11, from 9-11 a.m. The hosts will be the Presbyterian Church volunteers who will distribute meat and grocery staples at roadside. The church is at 19559 Main Street Buchanan. Anyone in need of food is welcome.
“Thank you to everyone who stopped by the table at Mountain Magic. Your contributions amounting to 2-1/2 boxes of food and $230 were gratefully received,” said a Food Pantry spokesman.
Pleasant Hill food distribution Saturday
Pleasant Hill Baptist Church will be giving out food boxes Saturday, Oct. 11, from 9 a.m. till all are given out or 10:30 a.m. Pick up at the church or the Eagle Rock Library.
Hayride, cookout at Galatia
Galatia Presbyterian Church will have its annual hayride and cookout on Saturday, Oct. 18 at the pavilion (across the road from the church). The hayride begins at 4 p.m. and the meal at 5:30. Hot dogs will be provided, bring a side dish to share. All are invited. (The rain date is Oct. 25.)
Springwood Baptist Church BBQ dinner
Springwood Baptist Church is hosting its annual pork BBQ dinner on Saturday, Oct.25, from 4-6 p.m. at the church, 88 Copps Hill Road, Buchanan.
Each dinner costs $12 and includes: two pork barbecue sandwiches (Aaron’s Smokehouse special sauce), coleslaw, baked beans and a drink. Desserts will be available for an additional charge. All proceeds will go toward church repairs.
This will be a takeout-only event held in the church fellowship hall. No tickets will be sold in advance, and no reservations are required. Aaron’s Smokehouse dinners will be served on a first-come, first-served basis while supply lasts.
Fincastle UMC Clothes Closet open dates
Fincastle United Methodist’s Clothes Closet will be open on Tuesday, Oct. 14 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. and Tuesday, Oct. 21 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. in the Family Life Center, 137 S. Church Street, Fincastle. Donations of gently worn, clean clothing and shoes also are accepted during these times.
Cloverdale Thrift Store half-price sale
Cloverdale Church of the Brethren’s Thrift Store is having a half-off sale on all adult and children’s clothes and shoes. Fall clothes will arrive on the first Saturday in October. Gently used donations are welcome. The store is open Saturdays, 9 to 12.
