Construction on the Botetourt County Courthouse project continues to progress steadily, with the county maintaining to complete the major capital improvement by 2027.

According to Rich Evans, Capital Projects manager for Botetourt County, crews are currently working on two key areas of the site: replacing telephone poles along Route 220 and pouring the foundation walls for the new courthouse structure.

Once Appalachian Power completes the replacement of telephone poles, work will resume on the Route 220 retaining wall. Stone masons are prepared to begin placing stone once the wall is ready. Meanwhile, foundation walls are actively being poured along Main Street and Roanoke Street, with completion expected by the end of October. Block masonry work is set to begin next week, and steel framing is scheduled to start at the beginning of the new year.

While no new milestones have officially been reached, Evans confirmed that significant progress is being made across multiple areas. Evan shared in an email Monday that the project remains on schedule, currently in the foundation and masonry phase as preparations are made to support the structural steel installation in early 2026.
