The Lord Botetourt volleyball team will play host to Franklin County Thursday with a chance to tie for the Blue Ridge District lead. Coming into the week Franklin had a 4-0 BRD record while LB stood at 3-1.

The Cavaliers were home to Northside on Tuesday but results were too late for publication. The Cavs figured to win that one against a Northside team that was just 1-11 overall coming into the week.

Lord Botetourt won two district matches last week over Williams, beating William Byrd and William Fleming. The Cavs won in three over Byrd in Vinton, 25-17, 25-22 and 25-19. Savanna Johnson had nine kills and four aces, Kennedy Fender had seven kills and 10 assists and Gracelynn Clark had four kills and five blocks.

Last Thursday the Cavs hosted Fleming and rolled to a 25-4, 25-5 and 25-6 win. Addalyn Underwood served up 11 aces and Clark had four blocks and eight aces.

Lord Botetourt hosted a round robin event with three Region 3D opponents last Saturday and went 1-2 in matches that were the best of three. Against Christiansburg, a state contender, the Cavs lost 25-18 and 25-14. They also fell to Abingdon in two, 25-20 and 25-12, but beat Magna Vista in three sets, 20-25, 25-23 and 15-9.

After Saturday the Cavaliers were 7-7 overall.
