The James River volleyball team will be home Thursday night to host Floyd County in a Three Rivers District match. The Knights are 4-4 in the district after splitting two matches last week.
On Oct. 7 the Knights hosted one of the weaker teams in the district and defeated Martinsville in three sets. The Bulldogs had a hard time returning River’s serving.
“We really did not have much of a chance to run our offense and be effective because we served so aggressively and they could not get the ball back,” said River coach Linsey Firebaugh. “Overall it was a good win for the girls.”
Last Thursday in Springwood the Knights hosted one of the better teams in the district and lost to Glenvar in three sets.
“This was a rough night,” said Firebaugh. “We were not receiving or serving well so it was hard to run our offense effectively. We just need to find a way to be more consistent all around.”
With the loss the Knights dropped to 12-7 overall. They have two road matches next week with a trip to Patrick County on Tuesday and a match at Carroll County on Thursday, Oct. 23.
