Jean Leffel Powell, 94, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2025.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter Hedrick Leffel and Ida May Cox Leffel; husband, Branson Elbert Powell, Sr.; grandsons, Jason Philip Powell and Jantzen Wade Powell; siblings, John Richard, Helen Louise, Anna Margaret, Charles Edward, Frank Lomack, Lenver, and Robert Francis Leffel.
Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Branson “Butch” Elbert Powell, Jr. (Betty), and John William Powell (Josephine); daughter, Anita Jeanine Thomas (Steve); grandchildren, April Martin (Dean), Justin Powell (Marie), Angela Lunsford, and Preston Kidd (Samantha); sisters, Elsie Loraine Leffel, Connie Lee Leffel Cronise, and Mary Vivian Leffel Falls; great-grandchildren and numerous “adopted” children and grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 2, at the Buchanan Chapel of Botetourt Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow at 3 p.m. Interment will be private.
