Free ‘Halloweenies’ Friday in Fincastle

Fincastle United Methodist Church is hosting the annual “Halloweenies” event in the Family Life Center on Friday, Oct. 31, from 6-8 p.m., at 137 S. Church Street, Fincastle.
The church is offering free hot dogs, hot cocoa and lemonade to trick-or-treaters and their families. All children will receive treat bags, too.

Pleasant Hill distributing food Nov. 8

Pleasant Hill Baptist Church will distribute food boxes Saturday, Nov. 8, from 9-10:30 or until all boxes are gone. Pick up at the church on Country Club Road or at the Eagle Rock Library.

 

Mt. Carmel hymn sing Nov. 9

Mt. Carmel will host a community hymn sing on Nov. 9 at 6:30 p.m. Light refreshments follow.

 

Lapsleys Run Homecoming, Anniversary

Lapsleys Run Baptist Church will celebrate the annual Harvest Homecoming and 157th Church Anniversary on Sunday, Nov. 9, beginning at 11 a.m.  The church’s own Brother Edgar Freeman will be the speaker.
Dinner will be served after the morning service.
The 157th Church Anniversary service will begin at 2 p.m. The guest speaker will be the Rev. McKinley Williams of First Baptist Church, Lexington.
Everyone is welcome to these and all services at Lapsleys Run Baptist Church. Regular services are held on the second and fourth Sundays of each month at 11 a.m. The church is located at 608 Zion Hill Road, Fincastle.

 

Eagle Rock Community Meal Nov. 10

The Eagle Rock Potluck Community Meal will be Monday, Nov. 10, at 12 Noon at the Eagle Rock Community Center (next to the post office).  Those attending are asked to bring a dish or dessert to share. All are invited for good food and fellowship.

 

Cloverdale Thrift Store has fall clothes

Fall apparel has arrived at Cloverdale Church of the Brethren’s Thrift Store –

a large of selection of fall and winter clothing and shoes. The store also has a large selection of Halloween costumes and fall decorations. Gently used donations are welcome. The store is open Saturdays, 9 to 12.

Eagle Rock Community Trunk or Treat

Local churches in Eagle Rock are sponsoring a Community Trunk or Treat from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 31. It will be held in the parking lot of Eagle Rock United Methodist Church.

 

Community Clothes Closet at Eagle Rock

The Eagle Rock Community Clothes Closet at 14565 Church Street, Eagle Rock, will be open Saturdays, Nov. 1 and 15, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon; also on Wednesday, Nov. 5, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. It has ladies’, men’s and children’s clothing, as well as shoes, household items and toys, all at no charge. Bags are provided and please honor the bag limit posted.

A donation box is now located outside the church. For large donations or to volunteer to help with this mission, contact pastor Ray Sandifer at 540-525-0258.

 

Election Prayer Service in Buchanan

Buchanan Presbyterian Church will host a Community Prayer Service on the Sunday night before Election Day: Nov. 2 at 7 p.m. All are invited to pray for current and future elected leaders, near and far, and for others who serve their community and country. The church is located at 19559 Main Street, Buchanan.
