Botetourt Sheriff’s Office reports successful prescription drug collection event

The Botetourt County Sheriff’s Office, in partnership with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), is proud to announce another successful prescription drug collection event, held on Saturday, Oct.25. Community members once again demonstrated their commitment to safety by utilizing two convenient drop-off locations, Penelope’s in Daleville and Solomon’s Mission in Buchanan, to safely dispose of unused and unwanted prescription medications.

Thanks to the participation of Botetourt County residents, the event resulted in the collection of 136.3 pounds of unneeded prescription medications. Every pound collected represents a step forward in preventing potential misuse and protecting our community.

For those who were unable to participate in Saturday’s collection, the Botetourt County Sheriff’s Office reminds residents that a prescription drug drop box is available in the Sheriff’s Office lobby, accessible 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, providing a safe, year-round disposal option.

The Sheriff’s Office remains committed to providing the community with safe and convenient ways to dispose of unwanted and expired prescription medications, helping to prevent misuse.
