Senior Social this Friday

The next Senior Social presented by the Botetourt County Sheriff’s Office, is this Friday, Nov. 21 at 11:30 a.m. at Fincastle Baptist Church, 7330 Roanoke Road, Fincastle. The Senior Social event is a part of the Sheriff’s Senior Focus Outreach Program, which is committed to strengthening and supporting the well being of older adults in Botetourt County.

Sheriff Matt Ward will share information to help seniors safeguard themselves against scams, fraud, and other criminal activity.

Brent Watts, Director of Communications for Botetourt County, will be the guest speaker. He is a lifelong Botetourt resident and spent more than 20 years with WDBJ7 as the Chief Meteorologist, earning numerous accolades for his coverage of major news and weather events. He now uses his experience to support clear, reliable communication throughout the county as Director of Communications.

The event welcomes a variety of local service providers who will be available to answer questions about health and wellness, financial security, future planning, and other topics important to seniors. Representatives from government agencies will also be present to provide guidance on public services and support programs.

This event, all services, and the pre-Thanksgiving meal are free and open to all seniors in Botetourt County. The Sheriff’s Office encourages everyone to share this announcement with senior friends, neighbors, and family members.

For more information, contact Andrea Mundy, Community Outreach Coordinator, at 540-928-2233.
