The Botetourt County Office of Elections completed certification of the Town of Troutville’s special elections for town mayor and a council seat last week, and the final totals confirmed what the preliminary numbers had already shown.
Spurgeon Vaughan will be the next mayor of Troutville, and Harry Ulrich has won the special election for the open Town Council seat.
Election staff spent last week verifying the provisional ballots to determine which were eligible to be counted. When that process was completed, the town finalized and certified the results, and released the official vote totals shortly afterward.
With the election effectively settled, Troutville can move forward with its upcoming term of local government. The new mayor and the returning council will soon begin their work on planning, budgeting, and setting priorities for the town.
