Children and adults delight in receiving and playing competitive games. This Uncle Wiggily board game is one of the numerous items donated to the Botetourt County Historical Society by Blue Ridge resident Margaret Fluke (1918-2022). It is signed on the back by Margaret and Kathryn Fluke. The character, Uncle Wiggily Longears, was created by American author Howard Roger Garis (1873-1962). His high-hatted adventurous rabbit delighted millions of children through his books and board games. Milton Bradley began selling this board game in 1916. Each player took a card that showed how far they could move their Uncle Wiggily figurine across the board. After more than a century, some of the cards and the game board are now on display with other holiday treasures at the Botetourt Museum of History & Culture in Fincastle.
