Sirens and Salutes, a nonprofit organization based in Botetourt County, spent the Christmas season focusing on service and appreciation for veterans and first responders across the region.

The organization, which supports veterans, active-duty service members, and emergency responders, carried out several outreach efforts during the holiday period. As part of its seasonal activities, Sirens and Salutes delivered Christmas gifts to veterans living at Melrose Tower in Roanoke and Carrington Place in Daleville. The deliveries were intended to recognize service members during the holidays and provide encouragement and connection.

“Sirens and Salutes is always proud to work hard ensuring our Veterans, who gave so much to our Country has a great Christmas, reminding them of their childhood days gone by,” said co-founder Bill Price. “We want to thank the community for assisting us with gifts and donations to help in this endeavor.”

In addition to veteran outreach, Sirens and Salutes extended its efforts to first responders on Christmas Eve. Breakfast was delivered to all fire, police, and emergency dispatch personnel throughout Botetourt County, as well as to fire departments within the City of Roanoke. The effort ensured that those working during the holiday received a meal while continuing their duties. Throughout 2025, Sirens and Salutes placed approximately 1,000 wreaths on veterans’ graves in Botetourt.

Sirens and Salutes operates with a mission centered on honoring service and sacrifice within the community. Through volunteer support and local partnerships, the organization focuses on acts of appreciation throughout the year, with particular emphasis during meaningful times such as the holiday season.
