The James River girls will be looking to pick up a Three Rivers District basketball win this Friday when they head to Hillsville to take on Carroll County. The Knights were at Patrick County on Tuesday but results were too late for publication.
River comes into the week with a 7-7 overall record and a 3-1 mark in district play. The girls dropped three games last week, beginning with a non-district game at Cave Spring, 52-37. Audrey Benson led River with 10 points while Siera Davis and Jalen Thompson had eight each.
The Knights lost at Floyd County Friday, 58-38, and at Greenbrier East in Lewisburg, W.Va., on Saturday, 60-16. The host Spartans improved to 12-0 with the win.
Next week River will host Radford on Tuesday, then head to Martinsville for a big Three Rivers District game on Friday, Jan. 30.
