The Lord Botetourt baseball team will return from spring break Monday with their home opener against Salem. The Cavaliers were idle this week after opening with two games on the road last week.
After last Monday’s game with Blacksburg was rained out the Cavaliers traveled to Hidden Valley on Wednesday for a non-district game. The host Titans pulled out a 5-4 win with three runs in the bottom of the sixth, and the game was called at that point due to darkness.
Garrett Lonker opened on the mound for Botetourt and pitched three strong innings, striking out seven and allowing just two hits. Freshman Jackson Crenshaw relieved in the fourth and ended up taking the loss, and Brady Kish closed out the sixth with two-thirds of an inning.
Jaidan Pennix was two-for-three at the plate with a double and a two-run homer. Chase Peck also had a double.
On Friday the Cavaliers were in Ridgeway to take on Magna Vista. Again, no lights at the field were a factor as the game was stopped in the bottom of the sixth with LB leading 12-8. The game will pick up where it left off when the Warriors come to Daleville on Thursday, April 2. Emory Lonker had a three-run homer for Lord Botetourt.
