The James River girls’ tennis team will wrap up the regular season on Thursday with a match against Martinsville at the Hollins University courts. In the past week the Knights lost to Patrick County, 6-3, but bounced back for an 8-1 win over Carroll County in Hillsville Monday.
The Knights will be competing in Region 2C singles and doubles next week. Leanna Steger will represent River in singles while Maggie Brewster and Payton White will represent the Knights in doubles. White, a right-hander, has been playing with a broken left arm.
“They’re figuring out their new challenge with White’s broken arm,” said coach Brian White after the match with Carroll. “They worked hard last night for the win!”
