Greenfield Elementary School students wrapped up the school year with a day full of outdoor games, water activities, and sweet treats during the school’s annual Field Day celebration.

The event, organized with the help of teachers, staff members, and numerous parent volunteers, featured a variety of traditional Field Day favorites including egg-and-spoon relays, tug-of-war competitions, hula hoop races, and several water-themed games designed to help students cool off during the festivities.

According to teacher Carolyn McLucas, students from multiple grade levels participated in relay races and team activities throughout the day. Kindergarten and third grade students took part in a wet sponge relay race, while second grade students competed in a “pass the water jug over your head” relay that left plenty of participants soaked and smiling.

Preschool students also enjoyed water activities, including time splashing and playing in a small pool set up for the younger children.

School administrators Jennifer Hawks and Kristy Martin joined in the celebration by serving ice cream to students during the event. The ice cream was donated by Freedom First Credit Union, helping provide a cool treat for students after an active day outdoors.

These photos also show first grade students in bright yellow shirts enjoying their ice cream while fourth grade students proudly wore tie-dyed T-shirts they created especially for Field Day activities.

McLucas said the event reflected the spirit of a traditional school Field Day, bringing students together for friendly competition, teamwork and fun as the academic year came to a close.
