Breckinridge Elementary School held its fifth grade promotion ceremony last month, recognizing members of the school’s Class of 2026.
During the ceremony, Principal Wyatt Turner congratulated students and encouraged them to remember the Breckinridge traits of belief, encouragement, achievement, respect, and success as they prepare to enter middle school.
The program included a reading by fifth grader Luis Morales-Tomas, whose D.A.R.E. essay was selected as the best among the Class of 2026. Morales-Tomas shared his essay with those in attendance, describing what he learned through the D.A.R.E. program this year.
The ceremony also included the presentation of the Jennifer Coon Award. This year’s recipients were Addison Sprinkle and Will Ronk.

The award is presented annually in memory of former Breckinridge student Jennifer Coon and recognizes two students who have demonstrated exemplary character throughout their elementary school years.
Mary Beth Huwe presented this year’s awards. Huwe was herself a recipient of the Jennifer Coon Award as a fifth grade student at Breckinridge.
The ceremony marked the completion of elementary school for members of the Class of 2026.
