Mt. Joy Old-Fashion Day Sunday
Mt. Joy Church of the Brethren is having an Old-Fashion Day and picnic this Sunday, June 14. Sunday School will begin at 10 a.m., the worship service at 11, and the picnic at noon. Mt. Joy Church is located at 2565 Buffalo Road, Buchanan.
Pleasant Hill food distribution June 13
Pleasant Hill Baptist Church will hold its monthly Food Box Ministry distribution on Saturday, June 13.
Anyone who is in need of food may stop by one of the two pick-up locations from 9- 10:30 a.m.: Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, 4930 Country Club Road, Troutville (at the corner of Haymakertown and Country Club Roads) or the Eagle Rock Library, 55 Eagle’s Nest Drive, Eagle Rock.
Organizers emphasize that the program is open to anyone currently facing food scarcity or experiencing a time of need.”Please don’t go hungry,” a church representative shared in a statement, urging community members to either utilize the service themselves or spread the word to neighbors, friends, or family members who could benefit from the assistance.
Fincastle Clothes Closet open dates
Fincastle United Methodist’s Clothes Closet will be open Tuesdays, June 16 and 23, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., and Saturday, June 13, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m.in the Family Life Center at 137 S. Church Street. Donations of gently worn, clean clothing and shoes also will be accepted. Call the church office at 540-473-3001 to arrange to bring donations during office hours, 9 a.m.-2 p.m., Tuesday-Thursday.
Buchanan Food Pantry open Saturday
June 13 is the next Food Pantry day at Buchanan Presbyterian Church, 19559 Main Street. The Buchanan Lions will be the hosts, distributing food from 9 a.m. till 11 a.m. Canned fruits and vegetables, cereal, meat, milk, etc. will be available. The pantry is open on the second and fourth Saturdays of every month to all who need it.
Cloverdale Thrift Store ready for summer
The Thrift Store at Cloverdale Church of the Brethren has bathing suits for $1 and $2, and sandals and shorts for $1. The shop needs girls’ clothes, sizes 2T to 6X.
Donations are welcome. The Thrift Store is open 9 a.m.-12 p.m. on Saturdays.
Cedar Bluff Baptist VBS
Cedar Bluff Baptist Church is holding Vacation Bible School from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Sunday-Wednesday, June 14-17. The theme is “Junkyard Redemption.” Cedar Bluff is located at 24822 Lee Highway, Buchanan.
Fill the Porch at Buchanan Presbyterian
Buchanan Presbyterian Church will host the third annual Fill the Porch to Feed My Sheep on June 20 from 8 a.m. till 1 p.m. Volunteers will be at the portico of the church, 19559 Main Street, to accept gifts to benefit the Food Pantry. Non-perishable foods and monetary gifts will be gratefully appreciated. The pantry is open every second and fourth Saturday from 9 a.m. till 11 a.m. to anyone who needs food.
