A wheelchair was donated this week to the Botetourt County Veterans of Foreign Wars post by MaryLou Puritz.
The wheelchair had belonged to Puritz’s late husband, John Puritz. After discussing the possibility with friends connected to the VFW, Puritz offered the wheelchair to the organization, which accepted the donation.
The handoff took place at the Botetourt VFW and included Puritz and VFW Adjutant Ken DiRocco.
MaryLou and John Puritz were longtime friends of many residents in the Botetourt community, including fellow golfers at Ashley Plantation. After John’s illness, the couple relocated to Crozet to be closer to family. MaryLou continues to maintain ties to the area through local friends and activities.
