Residents will have an opportunity to learn more about Google’s proposed data center campus in Botetourt County during a community open house Wednesday evening, June 17, at Lord Botetourt High School.
The event, hosted by Google in partnership with local utility providers and Botetourt County staff, will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. in the school’s lower gymnasium, located at 1435 Roanoke Road in Daleville.
Organizers said the open-house-style format is designed to give community members direct access to representatives from Google, utility companies and county government to discuss key aspects of the proposed project.
Information stations will cover topics including water usage, power infrastructure, sound and environmental considerations, community benefits and investment, local revenue impacts, and project planning and zoning.
Attendees may arrive at any time during the event to review project information, ask questions and provide feedback. County officials said community input gathered during the open house will help inform the ongoing planning process.
The proposed data center has generated significant local interest because of its potential economic impact and infrastructure requirements. Wednesday’s event is intended to provide residents with additional information and an opportunity to engage directly with project stakeholders.
Those unable to attend in person will be able to access project information online following the event.
