Families, outdoor enthusiasts, and community members gathered at Buchanan Town Park on Saturday afternoon for BOCO Wild 2026, Botetourt County’s annual celebration of outdoor recreation.
Hosted by Botetourt County Parks & Recreation in partnership with the Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources, the free event featured activities including archery, fishing instruction, biking, climbing, wildlife education, hunting safety demonstrations, hiking information, boating education, and exhibits highlighting outdoor opportunities throughout the county.
Vendors and community organizations were also on hand to share information and resources related to outdoor recreation.
Botetourt County Parks & Recreation Director Victor Morales said the event was well-attended and went well.
Formerly known as the Botetourt Fishing Carnival, BOCO Wild has grown into a broader outdoor recreation expo designed to introduce participants of all ages to the county’s many outdoor activities and natural resources.
The event was supported by numerous sponsors, including Bank of Botetourt, Master Mason, State Farm, Twin River Outfitters, Camp Bethel, Digital Image Printing, and Limit 6. The Town of Buchanan also partnered with organizers by providing the venue for the event.
