The Town of Buchanan will celebrate Independence Day with two nights of fireworks as part of the 72nd Annual Buchanan Community Carnival.

Fireworks are scheduled for 10 p.m. on Friday, July 3, and Saturday, July 4, at Buchanan Town Park, 485 Lowe Street. The displays serve as the grand finale to each evening of the annual carnival.

Carnival activities, including rides, games and traditional fair food, will be open nightly from 6 to 10:30 p.m. Organizers say the carnival’s hand-cut fries remain a longtime favorite among attendees.

The celebration continues Saturday with Buchanan’s annual Independence Day Parade. The parade begins at 5 p.m. on Main Street and will feature floats, fire trucks, marching units and other community participants.

Admission to the carnival grounds is free. Ride tickets and food will be available for purchase.

The Buchanan Community Carnival has been a local tradition for more than seven decades, drawing residents and visitors each year for family-friendly entertainment and the town’s Independence Day festivities.
