Joseph L. Overstreet, 87, of Roanoke, passed away on Sunday, July 26, 2026, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital with his family by his side.
He was a member of Hollins Road Baptist Church, and retired from Norfolk Southern Railway with 30 years of service. He loved watching sports and spending time with his kitties.
Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Emmie Overstreet; brothers, Patton Overstreet and Willie Overstreet, Jr.; and a sister, Ella Ruff.
He is survived by his wife, Ruby Angles Overstreet; children, J. Terry Overstreet (Jacki), Wanda Pilkinton, Adam S. Overstreet; grandson, Brandon Johnson (Laura); great-grandson, Dylan Johnson; one brother, Jackson Overstreet (Marilyn); one sister, Rose Creasy (Larry); granddaughter, Sydney Whorley; and his special buddy, Mr. Snuggles.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 30, 2026 at 10 a.m. at Oakey’s East Chapel with Pastor Mark Washington and the Rev. Foster Covington officiating. Interment will follow in Old Dominion Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, from 3-7 p.m. at Oakey’s East Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hollins Road Baptist Church or Angels of Assisi.
