Timothy “Tim” Allen Waddell, 63, of Asheboro, N.C., passed away August 22, 2026 at his home surrounded by loved ones. He was born February 12, 1963 in Roanoke, the son of Carol Faye Scaggs Waddell and the late Sterlie “Sonny” Robnet Waddell Jr.
Tim’s journey through life was one marked by dedication, service, and the quiet strength. Tim served his country with honor in the United States Air Force, retiring as a Technical Sergeant after more than two decades of committed service. His expertise in ground radar systems and his leadership acumen made him an invaluable asset, earning him accolades such as the three Oak Leaf Clusters, a Bronze Star, and a Silver Oak Leaf Cluster. His service took him across the globe to places like Korea and Saudi Arabia, where his contributions extended beyond duty to humanitarian efforts.
Beyond his career, Tim’s passions painted a picture of a man deeply engaged with the world around him. He found solace and excitement in the pages of mysteries and westerns, while his love for the Marvel Universe revealed his appreciation for stories of heroism. Faith played a central role in his life, guiding him as an active member of Parks Crossroads Christian Church of Ramseur. Tim’s creativity shone through in his woodworking projects, crafting beautiful furniture pieces that became heirlooms for family and friends.
A lover of nature, Tim enjoyed the simple pleasures of camping and fishing, memories he cherished from his days as an Eagle Scout. His heart was large, encompassing not only people but also the four-legged companions he adored– his cats Bob, Ocie, Gabby, and Millie, and his faithful dog, Lacey. Yet above all, Tim’s greatest treasure was his family. They were the center of his world, providing him with boundless joy and fulfillment. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched with his kindness, integrity, and unwavering devotion.
Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 23 years, Pamela “Pam” Hudson Waddell; his mother, Carol Waddell; his sister, Susan Jennings; niece, Heather Murrell; nephew, Ryan Jennings; great-niece, Reygan Shires; his children from North Carolina, Hannah Hoover (Matt), Josh Dickens (Jennifer) and Chris Dickens; grandchildren, Trevor Grimsley (Jenny), Emma Hoover (Arlin), Harmony Hoover, Julian Daniels, Jaylen Saunders (Chase), Ace Dickens and Alice Dickens; great-grandchild, Addie Grimsley; and many other beloved cousins, family members and friends.
A celebration of Tim’s life was held Saturday, Sept. 5, 2026, at 3 p.m. at Parks Crossroads Christian Church in Ramseur, N.C., with full military honors.
