Special dedication service Sunday at Fincastle Presbyterian
Fincastle Presbyterian Church is holding a special service on Sunday, Sept. 20, for the dedication of the new sound system.
Gathering music will begin at 10:15 a.m., with the service starting at 10:30 a.m. in the sanctuary at 108 E. Back Street in Fincastle.
The worship leader for the day will be the Rev. David A. Dickerson. Music Director Lori Turner has planned a large variety of special worship music that will feature congregational singing, the Botetourt Brass Ensemble, Soloist Evie Huwe, the BackStreet Ringers (bell choir), and The Joyful Singers.
Following the worship service will be a congregational meeting, and immediately after that meeting, there will be a potluck luncheon to which everyone is invited.

Springwood Food Pantry open Saturday
The Springwood Baptist Food Pantry will be open on, Saturday, September 19, from 8:30-9:30 a.m. at 88 Copps Hill Road, Buchanan. This is a drive-through pantry, so clients may remain in their cars and volunteers will load the food for them. The pantry is open each month on the third Saturday from 8:30 until 9:30 a.m. It partners with Feeding America Southwest Virginia and anyone in need of food is invited to visit.
St. Mark’s ‘Meal Packing’ event to fight hunger
St. Mark’s United Methodist in Daleville will once again host “Meal Packing” for Rise Against Hunger from 10 a.m.-noon on Saturday, September 19 in the church Family Life Center. This is open for anyone between the ages of 5 to 95. Volunteers are asked to help reach the goal of packing 20,000 meals. Those who can help may register on the church website, stmarksmethodist.com.
Ebenezer holding yard sale September 19
Ebenezer United Methodist Church is having a community yard sale Saturday, September 19 from 7 a.m. till noon. Ebenezer is located 85 Nace Road, Trouville.
Trinity UMC Baby Pantry open September 26
Those in need of diapers and baby formula may come to the Baby Pantry at Trinity United Methodist Church, 19637 Main Street, Buchanan, from 9 a.m. to noon on the fourth Saturday of the month. Enter on Washington Street side of the building. The Baby Pantry will be open this month on September 26.
Diaper and wipes donations may be left at the Buchanan Library, Family Dollar Store and North Star Restaurant.
Fincastle Clothes Closet open dates
Fincastle United Methodist’s Clothes Closet will be open on Saturday, Sept. 19, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m., and Tuesday, Sept. 22, 10 a.m.-2 p.m., in the Family Life Center at 137 S. Church Street. Donations of gently worn, clean clothing and shoes also will be accepted. Call the church office at 540-473-3001 to arrange to bring donations during office hours, 9 a.m.-2 p.m., Tuesday-Thursday.
Cloverdale Church of the Brethren Thrift Store
All clothes and shoes are half off at the Thrift Store in September. Shoes and pocketbooks are needed. Donations are welcome and appreciated. The store is open Saturdays, 9 a.m.-12 p.m.
