The Lord Botetourt football team hopes to get back on track after a tough night in Daleville last Friday. The Cavaliers will be in Christiansburg this Friday after falling at home to Magna Vista last week, 40-0.
The Warriors have been a thorn in the side for LB the last two seasons. Magna Vista eliminated Botetourt from playoffs last year when they rang up a big number in a 65-34 win over LB in Ridgeway. While the 40 points given up last Friday is a little better, first year coach Nick Leftwich wasn’t the least bit pleased.
“We’re not about moral victories,” he said. “That was last year and this is this year and we’re all about ‘right now.’ They have some really good athletes but we hurt ourselves and we’re going to have to get better. They’re in our region and we hope to see them again.”
The Warriors held LB to just 88 yards rushing. Gus Feeny led the team with 41 yards on 14 carries while Tanner Gore had 30 yards on eight attempts.

Cael Burton was 10 for 18 passing for 92 yards. Rylen Wright caught three passes for 58 yards while Feeny and Jayden Windsor had three catches each.
Callum McCoy led the defense with five solo tackles and 10 assists. Jackson Crenshaw had two solos and nine assists. Gabe Towe had a sack and Chris Paderick had an interception.
“I was pleased with the way we kept fighting, things just didn’t go our way,” said Leftwich.
Now 1-2, the Cavaliers are hoping to bounce back this week at Christiansburg. The Blue Demons are 1-2 with a win over Abingdon and losses to Carroll County and William Byrd. The Demons lost to Byrd in Vinton last Friday, 41-10.
“They’re coming off a tough loss like us,” said Leftwich. “They had a good win over Abingdon and they have some good athletes. It’s going to be two 1-2 football teams both looking for a win.”
The jayvees also fell to Magna Vista and they’ll host Christiansburg Thursday evening.
