The annual Women’s Resource Center (WRC) Holiday Program recently assisted 47 families with holiday donations and gifts with help from businesses and other community members.
Over 2,000 donations and gifts were received within the span of two weeks, and 217 children and adults were served.
Gifts arrived in an all sizes, shapes and in an assortment of gift-wrapped colors. Socks, slippers, children’s books, games, toys, and kitchenware are only some among the many donations that were received.
No matter what the gifts looked like, they all came prepackaged with the sole purpose of providing Christmas for families in the New River Valley this holiday season.
“We are incredibly grateful for the support from the WRC Holiday donors and family sponsors,” said WRC Community Engagement Coordinator, Laura Weaver. “Abusers often make sexual and domestic violence victims feel alone in this world. By supporting this program, the community comes together to illustrate to our clients that there is someone in their corner.”
The Women’s Resource Center (WRC) is a nonprofit human service agency, serving Floyd County, Giles County, Montgomery County, Pulaski County and the City of Radford.
The WRC has changed the lives of many community members by providing programs and services to adult and child victims of sexual and domestic violence.
For almost forty years, the WRC has been providing hope and help to those who need it, making it the oldest domestic violence center in Virginia.
