It was a busy week for the local swim teams last week, as Lord Botetourt and James River swam against each other, as well as against some other strong competition.
The Lord Botetourt girls were seventh and the boys were ninth in the annual Timesland Invitational swim meet at the Gator Center in Roanoke Saturday. Albemarle swept the team championships for both the boys and girls.
The event capped off a busy week for the Cavaliers. Botetourt had a Tuesday meet with James River, Roanoke Catholic and the Southwest Virginia Home School on Tuesday of last week. The LB boys and girls came out on top against all three opponents.
James River was at the Kirk YMCA on Friday to swim against William Fleming, Staunton River and Alleghany. The boys beat Staunton River and Fleming. Junior Luke Martin swam personal bests in the 50 Free (26.20) and 100 Free (1:00.20). The boys 200 Free Relay also swam a personal best of 1:54.61.
River also swam against Glenvar at Hollins last week, and senior Ana Conrad swam a personal best in the 200 IM with a 2:52.63.
River will swim against Glenvar tonight at the Kirk YMCA and travel to Lynchburg on Friday to compete against Heritage, Brookville and Jefferson Forest.
LB is now off until February 3 when the Cavaliers swim in the Blue Ridge District and Conference 31 meet at the Salem YMCA.
